Be Elegantly Strong Throughout is a program developed under the umbrella of the BEST Community Resource Center. Our program is passionately committed to providing education, preventative care, and support to underserved communities. Our overarching mission is to promote education, early detection, and comprehensive support to achieve better health outcomes for individuals facing cancer.
We firmly believe that knowledge is power, and through our educational initiatives, we strive to empower individuals with the information they need to prevent cancer and detect it at its earliest stages. By focusing on education, we aim to raise awareness about risk factors, healthy lifestyle choices, and the importance of regular screenings.
In addition to education, our program emphasizes the significance of early detection. We understand that timely diagnosis greatly improves treatment options and overall prognosis. Through our efforts, we work to increase access to screenings and promote proactive healthcare-seeking behaviors among underserved communities.

MAMMOGRAM CLINIC
Join us for the Stand Up Against Cancer Walk and Mammograms event, where we come together as a community to raise awareness and take action against cancer. Lace up your walking shoes and join us for a spirited walk to show our solidarity in the fight against this devastating disease.
Not only will we be walking to make a difference, but we are also offering on-site mammograms to promote early detection and prioritize the health of our participants.

MONTHLY GATHERINGS
Join us for our monthly Cancer Survivors Gathering, a joyful and uplifting event designed to bring together cancer survivors for fun-filled activities and meaningful connections. Whether you are a recent survivor or have been cancer-free for years, this gathering is a chance to celebrate life, create lasting friendships, and share experiences with others who understand your journey. Each month, we organize a variety of engaging activities, from group outings and wellness workshops to creative arts and recreational adventures.

WIG & BRA DRIVE
We are collecting new or gently used wigs and bras to support individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Losing hair due to chemotherapy can be emotionally challenging, and finding comfortable and stylish options can be expensive.
By participating in our drive, you can make a direct impact on the lives of individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Donating wigs can provide them with a sense of normalcy and boost their confidence during this difficult time. Additionally, donated bras can offer comfort and support to individuals whose bodies may have undergone changes due to treatment.

What We Do:
Education and Outreach
Through targeted educational initiatives, we strive to empower individuals in underserved communities with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health. Our outreach programs include community workshops, seminars, and presentations that cover a wide range of topics, including cancer prevention, risk factors, signs and symptoms, and the importance of regular screenings.
Screening and Early Detection
We recognize the importance of early detection in improving cancer outcomes. To address barriers to screening in low-income neighborhoods, we work to establish and promote affordable or free screening programs. By collaborating with healthcare facilities and community clinics, we aim to increase access to mammograms, Pap smears, colorectal screenings, and other cancer detection tests. Our goal is to ensure that individuals in low poverty neighborhoods have equal opportunities for early detection and timely intervention.
Advocacy for Equitable Healthcare
Through our advocacy efforts, we strive to bridge the gap by accompanying individuals to their medical appointments and acting as their advocates. Our trained volunteers or staff members attend these appointments, ensuring that the person undergoing treatment has someone by their side who can ask questions, seek clarifications, and help them understand their treatment options.
Financial Assistance
Through our financial assistance program, we provide grants, scholarships, and direct financial aid to help cover various expenses related to cancer treatment. This may include medical bills, prescription medications, transportation costs, accommodation expenses for out-of-town treatments, and other essential needs that can arise during the treatment process.
